Dubai UAE, December 28 2005 - Coinciding with its VISIT 2005 in-house trade show, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT manufacturer, announced that all its SCENICVIEW Business Line display models meet the strict requirements of the EU's upcoming Restriction of certain Hazardous Substances (RoHS) Directive.

With their exemplary ergonomics, these LCD displays are designed for sophisticated office applications whilst offering an environmentally sound solution.

"The SCENICVIEW Business Line joins a growing list of products from Fujitsu Siemens Computers to comply with the RoHS Directive, which will restrict the use of certain hazardous substances, such as lead, mercury and cadmium, in electrical and electronic equipment throughout the EU as of July 1, 2006," said Susanne Lewitzki, Product Marketing Manager, Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

Other Fujitsu Siemens Computers devices already satisfying this environmental standard include ESPRIMO Professional PCs and AMILO Pro and LIFEBOOK professional notebooks. All the company's monitors, including the high-end SCENICVIEW Premium Line and entry-level SCENICVIEW Value Line, will conform with RoHS by January.

"When it comes to ergonomics, professional organizations like the VBG, Germany's largest employer liability insurance association, place the optimal downward viewing angle onto the monitor at 35 degrees. With their flexible height adjustment, SCENICVIEW Business Line models can be lowered to a position very close to the desk surface, making the ideal viewing angle possible in almost any workplace environment," added Lewitzki.

The new displays offer both analog VGA and digital DVI interfaces, with close attention being paid to all design-related details. The cabling, connector cover, power supply unit and speakers, for example, are built into the monitor housing.

Fujitsu Siemens Computers was one of the first computer manufacturers to develop and produce PCs geared to environmental criteria. The company began experimenting with environmentally compatible products and processes as early as 1988, long before there was any talk of statutory legislation. Back in 1994, Fujitsu Siemens Computers was the first PC manufacturer to be awarded the "Blue Angel" environmental label for a Professional PC.

 For the conversion to lead-free soldering, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is investing between 500,000 and 600,000 euros in each of its 9 mainboard production lines.

In accordance with its own environmental guidelines, Fujitsu Siemens Computers also includes all its suppliers, including the transportation companies, in its environmental protection program. Regular audits and on-site inspections ensure that the standards are complied with.
