Doha, Qatar: Tall buildings and sustainable urban environments will be top of the agenda when the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH) meets in Doha on the evening of May 31 at the QIPCO Tornado Tower.
The purpose of the meeting, which is the first to be held in the region, is to provide a platform for professionals in the development, design, and construction industries to connect and share knowledge and creative ideas with views to creating a better built environment in Doha and the region.
Organized in collaboration with Six Construct-Qatar, the session will include a presentation on the Tornado Tower by CICO Consulting Architects and Engineers. The Tornado Tower was named the "Best Tall Building in the Middle East and Africa in 2009" by CTBUH.
Event organizer Kerry Galbraith said, "As professionals who directly affect the urban habitat, we have a responsibility to provide an aesthetically pleasing yet functional building not only to our clients, but to the people who will be using the spaces that we provide. We are continually striving to build better, taller and bigger buildings, utilizing advanced technologies. With the CTBUH meetings we hope that those attending will walk away energized with new ideas to meet the challenges that they face every day."
CTBUH is an international, not-for-profit organization focused on the planning, design, construction and operation of tall buildings. Since being founded in 1969, it has become the defacto global governing body for determining which building is the tallest in the world.
CTBUH studies and reports on all aspects of the planning, design, construction and operation of tall buildings. As part of its remit, CTBUH also examines the role and impact of tall buildings on the urban environment. The Council membership is multi-disciplinary and includes some of the world's top authorities in their field.
Future meetings will be held on a quarterly basis, focusing on various projects within the building and construction industries.
