The Orbis Coffee Roastery has announced they have successfully managed to import a top quality green coffee into the Emirates. This comes on the back of a series of 'first's' for the roastery which includes providing the world's most expensive coffee, served at Jumeirah Emirates Towers and the provider of Fairtrade coffee to many of Dubai's outlets.
Justin Clarke, CEO and founder of the Orbis Coffee Roastery explained, "We have been continually expanding our fine coffee range but the Jamaican Blue Mountain represents the pinnacle of all the coffees so far. For each restaurant or hotel we create a unique menu so we are dealing direct with individual farmers for very high quality beans in small quantities. Recent 'finds' have included the Hawaii Kona Extra Fancy and an intense chocolaty Arabica bean from the western Highlands of Cameroon."
The Jamaican coffee which originated from the Clydesdale Estate in the heart of the Blue Mountain region is known for its exceptionally sweet and mild aromas. It has been exported in wooden barrels since it was originally shipped to Europe back in the seventeenth century. The coffee is destined for just a few exclusive outlets in Dubai including the Monarch Hotel where it retails at 360Dhs/cup.

About Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee
Coffee found its way to Jamaica when in 1728 Sir Nicholas Lawes, the then Governor of Jamaica, imported arabica seedlings from the island of Martinique. Coffee production expanded when government support and instruction in the art of cultivation, over time allowed the industry to develop and the quality and reputation to grow.
Coffee is grown in parishes. Its history is church related, much like in England where people in a certain area were of one parish. Jamaican High Mountain is not from the same Blue Mountain region. It is grown at a lower elevation and is certified but not in high demand. The lower elevation results in a less flavorful bean.
True Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee is hand picked October through March and wet processed. It is supervised at every stage of pulping, drying, hulling, sorting and grading. The Coffee Board must certify all stages. The resulting coffee is as consistent as it is exquisite.
