Joint solution protects data privacy, enables user-selectable encryption and security policies
FileNet Corporation (Nasdaq: FILE), the leading provider of Enterprise Content and Business Process Management solutions, has announced that it has entered into a partnership with Decru, a NetApp company, to deliver secure Enterprise Content Management (ECM) solutions to enhance privacy for sensitive and regulated data. The combination of FileNet's P8 platform and Decru DataFort storage security appliances enables user-transparent, granular encryption by document group, selectable security policies, and secure lifecycle management for virtually any type of content. Decru and FileNet are extending interoperability testing for the combined solution and will undertake cooperative sales and marketing efforts.
The FileNet and Decru solution addresses growing customer requirements for high-performance, high-security content management and data protection solutions for enterprise compliance. As storage and information security requirements converge, customers are searching for methods to lock down data at rest in complex, heterogeneous environments where IT infrastructures often house many terabytes of regulated information. As a result, encryption is growing in popularity as a best practice for ensuring compliance and data security for ECM.
The joint solution combines FileNet's P8 platform with Decru DataFort storage security appliances and leverages core architecture and product strengths of each company. Decru offers proven, high-speed encryption and security for data at rest on virtually any storage device. FileNet provides the ability to organise and selectively handle all categories of documents within an organisation and apply appropriate process, content and storage management policies.
"More and more of our customers are requesting enhanced security methods and encryption to protect their sensitive data, which persuaded us to team up with Decru, who holds a clear leadership position in the storage security market," said Martyn Christian, Chief Marketing Officer for FileNet. "Linking FileNet's content, e-mail, and records management offerings with Decru high-performance security appliances provides a powerful solution to help customers address privacy and compliance requirements."
Kevin Brown, Vice President of Marketing, Decru, said, "Driven by headlines, regulations, and evolving best practices, enterprise and government organisations are increasingly focused on securing stored data. Today, it has become vital to integrate encryption and content management into the data management infrastructure. FileNet's sophisticated content management software complements Decru hardware-based security appliances, and we are confident customers will greatly benefit from the combined functionality."
The jointly tested and supported solution also allows customers the ability to define customised policies for access controls, security, and data privacy, which are particularly valuable to FileNet's Content Manager, Email Manager, and Records Manager customers. In addition, FileNet's Active Storage and Retrieval (ASAR) services, built into FileNet P8, enable policy-based mapping of FileNet documents to storage devices and individual device volumes, as well as event-driven movement of documents. Using this capability, customers can selectively encrypt sensitive documents by storing them in Decru Cryptainer vaults, which are encrypted volumes maintained on respective NAS, FC SAN, or IP SAN storage systems.
