The European Council for Business Education (ECBE) accredited the business programs of the College of Administrative and Financial Sciences of AMA International University - Bahrain, namely: Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics (BSBI) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) after its three-day visit held last February 14-16, 2011.
AMA International University-Bahrain is the first non-European university to pass the accreditation requirements of its business programs by the ECBE.
The panel of accreditors comprised of the Chairman of the Board of Commissioner of ECBE, Prof. Bob Johnson (United Kingdom), and two other ECBE Commissioners, namely; Prof. Vladimir Kureshov (Russia) and Prof. Robert Rietbroek (Netherlands).
ECBE commits "to support member institutions in preparing students to operate effectively in an inter-dependent competitive world; encourages and supports excellence; innovation in teaching and learning outcomes; meeting the challenges of Bologna and the European Higher Education Area; to developing linkages between Business Education providers and Industry and Commerce; and forming strategic alliances with organizations worldwide with similar objectives." The AMAIUB has been a member of the European Council for Business Education since 2010 and is expected to be a full-fledged member since it has passed its accreditation which is a significant requirement.
AMAIUB has been very firm on its commitment to continuous improvement propelled by its mission to provide a holistic, relevant, quality and globally recognized education. Dr. Amable R. Aguiluz V, president and chairman of the university has short, medium and long range plans of realizing his commitment to Bahrain and one of which is to ensure that programs shall be globally recognized and thus, seeking international accreditation is one of the primary objectives.
Awarding of Certificate of Accreditation will be held during the ECBE Conference which was tentatively scheduled on May 22-25 in Budapest, Hungary.
