The GT-S50 and GT-S80 A4 scanners offer range of features to enhance speed, reliability and cost-efficiency

Epson has expanded its pioneering range of business scanners with the recent Middle East launch of its first ever sheetfed series, the GT-S50 and GT-S80 A4 scanners. The two new series are network enabled and equipped with a high-speed USB 2.0 interface, incorporating a range of new features never before seen in the category, enhancing speed, quality, reliability and value for money.

The GT-S80 has a scanning speed of 40 pages per minute and a conversion rate of 80 images per minute, while the GT-S50 can dish out 25 pages per minute and 50 images per minute. Both models are equipped with a sensitive ultrasonic sensor that detects and prevents disruptive paper-jams even at high speed.

Epson has entered this market sector at the forefront, introducing new technologies and features to the category to significantly enhance the user experience. The auto original size and colour recognition features, along with the automatic De-skew and batch separation to multiple files, offer high reliability and trouble-free performance that save the user valuable time.

Adhering to Epson's environment friendly stance, both models have been declared mercury free products and has incorporated Epson's ReadyScan LED technology, offering immediate scanning activity without a lamp warm-up time that helps save electricity. Additionally, EpsonScan offers a full range of powerful image processing features, including RBG Colour dropout, Blank pages deletion, Text Enhancement, Auto Area Segmentation, Secure PDF and Searchable PDF. This produces the finest quality from the first scan, taking full advantage of the increased productivity.

The new scanners are also the only models in the category that boasts of a full two line LCD display, enhancing usability and augmenting the scanners' versatile built-in event manager capabilities. Specific scan functions can be accessed and scanned images sent to specific network locations or system applications at the touch of a finger.

The business ID and embossed card scan functionality can scan data from the cards and automatically transfer to a digital database that can be exported to address book applications, such as Microsoft Outlook. As with all Epson business scanners, the GT-S50 and GT-S80 models offer optimum compatibility and connectivity, working with a range of both Windows and Mac OS operating systems, including Windows Vista.

The models come with standard software needed for improved document processing and productivity. Presto PageManager 8 is standard on the GT-S50 Series, whilst the GT-S80 Series is equipped with the Pro version, creating an archival document management system out of the box. ABBYY® FineReader® Sprint Plus OCR even allows the user to create editable text in 177 different languages, while BizCard Reader quickly and easily converts the vital contact information on business cards into a convenient, searchable digital database.

Khalil El Dalu, General Manager, Epson Middle East said, "With a growing number of companies in the Middle East steadily increasing their IT spending to keep pace with latest technological innovations and trends, the demand for high quality business scanners has seen significant growth in recent years. Given this scenario, we expect the new sheetfed series of scanners to create significant interest in the regional markets because of its unique features, reliability and cost-efficiency."

"Moreover, these new models have been designed for heavy duty business scanning requirements, with an unparalleled auto feed capacity of 75 A4 sheets, which is a 50 percent increase on the usual competitor capacity for this category," he concluded.
