In cooperation with the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan

Amman, November 2008 - Energy Management Systems International LLC (EMS) - the first company to provide energy management solutions (ESCo) in the Middle East - announced its participation as the sole sponsor in the "Green Buildings and Renewable Energy" workshop, which was held on Wednesday, 29 October 2008, at the Movenpick Resort in Aqaba. The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Royal Marine Conservation Society of Jordan (JREDS), was inaugurated by H.E. Dr. Saleem Al Mughrabi, Commissioner of Environmental Affairs, on behalf of H.E. Eng. Husni Abu Gheida, Chief Commissioner of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA).

The event was attended by several officials from the Electricity and Water Departments as well as the private sector, in addition to several real estate developers specializing in hotels and tourism resorts, and members from ASEZA, the Royal Navy Force, the Environmental Police, NGOs, and local media representatives.

As speakers at the event, Mr. Luay Jildeh, EMS's General Manager and Regional Development Manager, and several specialized EMS engineers conducted three presentations on the importance and impact of Green Buildings, LEED certification, Energy Value Analysis (EVA), and Smart Property Solutions (SPS) in increasing energy and water efficiency and reducing capital and running cost for buildings.

The workshop showcased Green Buildings services that enable increased energy efficiency, the use of renewable energy, and the reduction of running costs based on international standards of excellence, and which are applicable to different types of existing and newly established buildings in various sectors.. To this effect, EMS also demonstrated actual figures of audits conducted in commercial buildings, hotels, hospitals and factories where EMS had successfully saved up to 30% of the energy and water consumptions.

Commenting on the events of the workshop, Mr.
Jildeh said: "We would like to thank JREDS for approaching us for this workshop, which was designed to spread awareness on the Green solutions available for real estate developers and building owners in Jordan in order to help them reduce costs and become more energy and water efficient, particularly in the face of current economic challenges and the rise in global prices. We at EMS have made our top priority the development of a sound and effective energy-saving infrastructure for new and existing establishments, and we hope that this workshop will aid in developing greater understanding of the possibilities available in the energy saving field."

Eng. Fadi Sharaiha, JREDS' Executive Director, further added: "We truly appreciate EMS's sponsorship and participation in this workshop. EMS is a well known and pioneering specialist entity in the renewable energy and green solutions industry, and we are honored to have them join in our efforts in paving the way to a greener and more energy-efficient Jordan. We are also introducing the Green Key certification, which is a pilot eco-labeling certification and the first of its kind in the Middle East. The Green Key will go in line with EMS's efforts in promoting environmentally-oriented business practices, which makes of this partnership a good model for public-private partnerships in the country."

The "Green Buildings and Renewable Energy" workshop is one of many local and regional events in which EMS has taken part of in the past few years, and comes in line with the company's role in 'Greening' cities, which has spawned over 55 projects in the UAE, Qatar, Bahrain and Jordan.
