Dubai, UAE - E-marine, the principal provider of submarine cable solutions in the Middle East, announced its cooperation with Alcatel-Lucent Submarine Networks (ASN) on the installation of a section of a major submarine cable system linking Asia to Europe.
E-marine is installing a link from Pakistan to Oman and the UAE, a distance of around 2,000kms, for ASN.

E-marine described this win in collaboration with ASN as a "showpiece" for the company, adding that it demonstrated E-marine's "global positioning as a major player in sub-sea cable-laying".

E-marine made the announcement at SubOptic 2016, the global gathering for the subsea communications industry, which, for the first time in its 30 year history, is being held in the Middle East.

Mr Omar Jassim Bin Kalban, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of E-marine, said: "This is the ninth instalment of SubOptic which has become a focal point for the exchange of ideas and expertise that will drive the growth of our industry over the coming years. Countries like the UAE, guided by progressive Government policy, are becoming more connected. Meanwhile, the world is demanding faster connectivity speeds as data volumes surge. As the deals we are announcing show, E-marine is providing the enabling sub-sea infrastructure for improved global connectivity."

E-marine now has a fleet of four fully equipped cable ships and a special purpose vehicle with state-of-the-art facilities. The company's vessels are all equipped with the latest survey, cable laying and navigation equipment, and cable management systems. E-marine provides a complete range of sub sea telecommunication and off-shore energy cables for the telecoms, and oil and gas industries.

E-marine has installed nearly 20,000KM of submarine cables in the region and maintains 100,000kms of submarine cables across the Middle East, Africa and Sub-continent section. E-marine established the first sub-sea cable ship in the Middle East region, and grounded the first communication cables in the UAE for better communication with neighboring countries, including Qatar and Bahrain.
