AED 588 million invested in infrastructure covering 15 sq kms

Construction of a roundabout near Dubai Industrial City in association with Road and Transport Authority begins

Dubai-UAE: 05 December, 2011 - Dubai Industrial City, the region's leading manufacturing and logistics destination and a member of TECOM Investments, has completed large infrastructural development work associated with its power, water, sewage, irrigation and telecom systems covering  an equivalent area of 15 square kilometers (161 million square feet) across the City.

The second largest non-real estate project in Dubai invested a total of AED 588 million over the past four years to meet investors' operational needs to create a comprehensive industrial base in Dubai.

With three 132KV DEWA sub-stations already in operation in the city, construction of a fourth sub-station is currently in its final stage of completion. The 132 KV sub-stations are part of a series of 26 scheduled for construction across the City to meet the energy needs of on-site industrial factories and day-to-day operations.

Abdullah Belhoul, Managing Director of Dubai Industrial City said: "The steady progress of infrastructure work underscores our continued commitment to creating a robust industrial environment for our business partners. It is also a testimony to the accelerating momentum we are witnessing among the industrial entities that wish to base their manufacturing and logistical activities at the destination. We expect the present project, which is part of a larger one covering the City, to cope with the future demand and growth of the destination."

To date, over 40 kilometers of new roads have also taken shape as part of the infrastructural work. The road network seamlessly connects Dubai Industrial City's six dedicated clusters of food and beverage, base metal, mineral products, chemicals, transport equipment and parts, as well as machinery and mechanical equipment.

Also, over 139 kilometers of water lines, 189 kilometers of telecom ducts, 91 kilometers of storm and drainage lines, 80 kilometers of sewerage as well as 53 kilometers of irrigation lines have been constructed as part of this project.

Additionally, construction of a direct access roundabout on Emirates Road near the entrance of the City has begun. The roundabout, which is being constructed in association with the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA), will facilitate both civilian and commercial traffic into and around the industrial destination.

Covering an area of 55 square kilometers (560 million square feet), Dubai Industrial City is located on Emirates Road near the new Al Maktoum International Airport and offers a strategic advantage due to its proximity to major highways and the Jebel Ali Port.
