Dubai will be the focus of attention of the fashion world as the high-profile Dubai Fashion 2009 takes off to a glittering start on February 9, 2009. The event is a Signature event of Dubai Shopping Festival 2009 and held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, wife of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.
To be held from February 9 to 11 at the Madinat Jumeirah, Arena Ballroom, Dubai Fashion 2009 will see the season's hottest trends by leading fashion houses and stores including Saks Fifth Avenue, John Galliano, and the Etoile Group. It will be the first time that John Galliano presents his collections in Dubai after opening Middle East's first John Galliano store in the city last year.
"As we celebrate the sixth anniversary of one of our most prestigious signature events, we would like to thank HH Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum for her constant support and encouragement for Dubai Fashion It's through Her Highness's support that we transformed this event from its small beginnings in 2003 to a global fashion event that has managed to attract many fashion lovers of the world to Dubai in a record time," said Suhaila Gobash, Events Manager of DSF Office.
"Over the years we have endeavoured to not only feature world-renowned designers but make Dubai Fashion a platform for designers to showcase collections that make their world premiere in Dubai. The inclusion of two of the biggest retail fashion names in the region is also a sign of DSF Office's efforts in promoting the fashion industry in Dubai," she added.
The inaugural day of the event on February 9 will host collections presented by Saks Fifth Avenue. The second day of the show on Feb 10 will see collections of John Galliano, the British Fashion Designer of the Year in 1987, 1994, 1995, and 1997, on the ramp. The show will be a ladies only night.
The final day on February 11 will see collections of grand fashion international brands take centre stage with names such as Karl Lagerfeld, Christian Dior, Stella Cadente, Ungaro and Valentino to name a few, presented by Etoile group.
