This is only the second time in the 57 years history of ICAI that members residing out of India have been co-opted into committee at the central council

Dubai, April 27, 2006 - Mr. V.P Nagarajan, a noted Chartered Accountant, based in Dubai, who is currently associated with the ETA ASCON and ETA STAR Group as Senior General Manager, Corporate Affairs and Projects, has been co-opted as a committee member of the Central Council by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for the year 2006-07.

Also Mr A Nandakumar, partner of Moore Steven, the Chartered Accountant firm for the ETA ASCON & ETA STAR Group, has been inducted as member of 'the committee of accounting standards for local bodies'.

Although the above appointments are generally made from members residing in India, this is only the second time in the 57 years history of ICAI that members residing out of India have been co-opted into committee at ICAI.

A statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act 1949 for the regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountancy of India, the ICAI is the second largest premier accounting body in the world. The Central Council that comprises of 24 elected members of ICAI and six members nominated by the Government of India also nominates non-elected members of ICAI and representatives of important organizations into its various non-standing committees.
