The Abattoir Section of Public Health Department at Dubai municipality has obtained HACCP certification (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point System in food) by BM Trada, a leading multi-sector certification body accredited by UKAS (United Kingdom Accreditation Service).
BM TRADA's portfolio of services includes certification to quality, environmental, energy, information security, health & safety and food safety management systems, as well as chain of custody and product and personnel schemes.
Eng. Hussein Nasser Lootah, Director General of Dubai Municipality has stressed the keenness of civic body to implement the best applications and technologies in the field of public health services, pointing out that the department applied an integrated system for food safety to achieve its vision of building excellent city that provides essence of success and comfort of sustainable living.
Lootah received the certificate in the presence of Salah Al Amiri, Assistant Director General, Zuhoor Hussain AL-Sabbagh, Director, Public Health Services, Ahmed Al-Shammari, Head of Abattoir Section and a number of officials.
Zuhoor said that HACCP certification is granted after verification of the correct application of food safety system in accordance with the requirements of the specification. It includes seven principles namely, identification of risks, detection of reasons for the removal or reduction of risk at the level of critical control points, putting critical limits for control, establish monitoring system, develop corrective actions, procedures for review and a documentation system.
