RIYADH:– Strengthening its reputation as a leader in implementing large and diverse projects, the Diriyah Gate Development Authority won the prestigious ‘Developer of the Year’ award for Saudi projects at the Construction Week KSA Awards 2021 held at the Hilton Riyadh Hotel and Residences on 28 September 2021. The award is the culmination of the Authority’s achievements in the development of Diriyah Gate, which is set to become a major global destination for culture, heritage, and tourism.

DGDA’s recognition is the result of its multitude of achievements in the project, which encompasses a wide range of facilities for culture, entertainment, high-end hospitality, and retail. Architect Reem Al-Khaldi, Senior Architecture Manager at the Authority, was also honored at the event with the ‘Rising Star Award’ for her work on the design and construction of the Al-Turaif quarter, which had helped her become a founding member of the DGDA’s team of architects.

Diriyah Gate is one of the major projects of Saudi Arabia that combines its historical heritage with the joys of tourism, leisure, and shopping, showcasing to the world the Kingdom’s status as an unmatched destination for travel and entertainment. The project includes areas for shopping, dining, working, living, fitness, studying and fun.

“I would like to congratulate my dear colleagues at the Authority for this well-earned honor, which reflect the status that the Diriyah Gate Development Authority has reached today and reiterate the Authority’s determination to move forward along its mission and vision.’’ said Jerry Inzerillo, Group Chief Executive Officer of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority.

“The Developer of the Year award is an authentic testimony to the untiring efforts of the Authority’s team across its various departments.  Furthermore, it highlights the leadership of our DevCo President Jonathan Timms as well as contributions of colleagues Reem Al-Khaldi and Nourah Al-Omair, who earned their recognition with rightful merit. Undoubtedly, the award underlines the advancements that the Kingdom has achieved in many aspects, most important of which is tourism and human development,” he added.

Once completed, the Diriyah Gate development project will include areas for culture, entertainment, retail, hospitality, education, business, and residence, with a slew of hotels and an assortment of museums and cultural institutions, as well as a variety of downtown shops that blend in with Al Bujairi Heritage Park.

Organized by Construction Week - a weekly print magazine that covers construction projects and developments with region-wide news and features – the Construction Week Awards celebrate the leading contractors, consultants and sub-contractors that are building the massive giga-projects and landmark developments that make Saudi Arabia amongst the most exciting countries in the world for construction development. This year’s edition of the award marked its return to Riyadh to celebrate the Kingdom’s leading projects, individuals, and initiatives through 16 categories.
