Dell Projects Potential Global Total Power Savings for Enterprise Users at Nearly $1 Billion Annually
Dubai, UAE, 13 November 2006 -- Information-technology managers now can focus more on competitive advantages and less on system maintenance with a highly manageable OptiPlex 745 desktop computer with Intel Core 2 Duo processors for improved processor performance and reduced electricity consumption.
The Dell OptiPlex 745 is the first in a series of redesigned business desktop systems offering enhanced performance, manageability, deployment capabilities, security and annualised power savings of nearly $1 billion to enterprises of all sizes.1 The redesigned desktop line will extend Dell's lifecycle product strategy to help increase business efficiencies by removing bottlenecks so IT departments can focus on higher-value activities.
"Dell continues to simplify operations and deliver greater efficiencies for customers so they can focus on growth and reducing IT complexities," said Jeff Clarke, senior vice president, Dell Product Group. "The new OptiPlex lineup exemplifies Dell's leadership in delivering customer-driven, standards-based lifecycle solutions for businesses."
More Function, Less Friction to Drive Business Efficiencies
The OptiPlex 745 helps maximise IT investments throughout the product lifecycle by introducing new technologies designed to enhance performance and security while easing deployment and maintenance. New features include:
- Intel Core 2 Duo processors, which help deliver up to 30 per cent better performance and power savings of up to 40 per cent2,
- Dell Energy Smart advanced power management settings factory-set from Dell to help improve power savings,
- Dell Client Manager, available in October, allows an administrator to remotely deploy, manage and troubleshoot thousands of Dell client systems from a single console, including management of systems regardless of the OS state,
- EMBASSY Trust Suite by Wave Systems is preloaded to easily configure and manage data encryption, Trusted Platform Module (TPM) 1.2-enabled password protection, secure email and system login, and optional smart-card keyboards and biometric readers,
- Dell's Advanced Configuration Services let customers further customise their order at time of purchase, including modifying the operating system image, hard drive partitions, boot sequence, browser security settings and BIOS settings.
"With its amazing performance, the new Intel Core 2 Duo is ready to handle the latest business applications today and tomorrow, while supporting the background manageability and security tasks IT professionals need to keep their businesses safe," said Robert Crooke, vice president and general manager of Intel's Business Client Group. "PCs like these new Dell OptiPlex systems running on Intel Core 2 Duo processors deliver greater responsiveness with improved energy efficiency compared to the mainstream business systems available today."
Annual Energy Savings of Nearly $1 Billion Worldwide
The new OptiPlex 745 desktop and future OptiPlex products are designed to help customers reduce electricity consumption and save money. Customers deploying new OptiPlex systems with power-efficient Dell Energy Smart settings, an Intel Core 2 Duo processor and a Dell flat-panel monitor have the combined potential to save nearly $1 billion every year in energy costs worldwide compared to previous-generation systems.
