Dubai: September 4, 2003 - Deira City Centre last night unveiled - in spectacular show-stopping fashion - a totally new lower level as a part of the major expansion to provide a new face to Dubai’s most popular shopping centre.
The new lower level is comprised of 24 stores, as well as a new and improved taxi drop off area, a new Customer Service Centre and new family facilities.
Deira City Centre General Manager Mr Rashid Zakaria Doleh said:"The new extension is a part of Deira City Centre’s commitment to provide customers with the greatest shopping choice and experience in the UAE."
"We can now proudly say that Deira City Centre is a city inside a city, and a one-stop-shop for residents and tourists alike."
The new taxi drop off allows shoppers to arrive in style right at the Centre’s airconditioned new front entrance and wait for a taxi at the new airconditioned waiting area.
The new lower level of stores houses major names in electronic goods and services from Jumbo and Jacky’s Electronics, Eros Electricals, Harman House to Fono, as well as a range of service-oriented stores such as key cutting, cards, banking, gifts and hairdressing salons.
The aim of the new ground level is to be an electronics hub with stores positioned to resemble those found at an international airport. A new café also greets customers at the main entrance.
Deira City Centre has also responded to the needs of families by providing 3500 square feet of hotel-standard washroom space including baby changing and family room area. (see full list of stores and services overleaf).
Core to the new level is a dedicated Customer Service Centre manned by friendly and informative staff who can help shoppers with any of their needs, from finding their favourite store to gift wrapping, gift certificates, tourism information or baby/wheelchair services.
The lower level, which covers almost 29,100 square feet, offers an ideal mix of speciality products aimed at providing easy access to popular stores and services at Deira City Centre.
The expansion will also open up space on the upper levels for better flow of traffic and shopping comfort. New escalators and positioning of bridges will also allow for easier access between floors and throughout the rest of the Centre.
A new permanent stage and VIP area will also allow for even more exciting entertainment and ceremonial events at Deira City Centre.
"This new level is the first and last impression shoppers have of our Centre and we are proud to have worked with these leading retailers to continually enhance the total experience of shopping at Deira City Centre," Mr Doleh added.
