As part of their efforts to continuously create more job opportunities for youth

Amman, 18 December 2015

Under the patronage of Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. Abdullah Ensour, and the Minister of Information and Communications Technology, H.E. Majd Shweikeh, Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa and Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea signed a Memorandum of Cooperation (MOC) with the Ministry of Labour (MOL) and Amman Chamber of Commerce (ACC), agreeing to attract, train and employ Jordanians in the tourism sector, and qualify them to enter the job market. The MOC was inked by Dr. Nidal Al-Qatameen, the Minister of Labour, Mr. Firas Irsheidat, Area General Manager of IHG-Dead Sea Resorts, and Mr. Issa Murad, ACC Chairman.

The Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa and Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea Academy will provide several training courses to young job seekers between the ages of 18 and 35, who will be selected by MOL in collaboration with non-profit organizations from the local community. The expenses of each 12-month training course will be covered by both Resorts. Upon the conclusion of the training period and in cooperation with MOL, Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa and Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea will offer the trainees suitable employment opportunities.

Mr. Irsheidat spoke about this significant step, saying, "We believe in the importance of rallying both the public and private sectors in order to achieve socio-economic development, and to contribute to the reduction of unemployment among our youth. As such, we decided to sign this memorandum with the Ministry of Labour and the Amman Chamber of Commerce, with whom we share the vision of a qualified and competent workforce, in order to equip Jordanians with the necessary professional training and raise their efficiency. This is definitely a step forward in enhancing the concept of social protection, in addition to organizing the labor market."

Crowne Plaza Jordan Dead Sea Resort & Spa and Holiday Inn Resort Dead Sea Academy was launched in 2013 to create and provide job opportunities that can transform the lives of youth, whereby trainees from the local community are exposed to both theoretical and practical methods of education. So far, the Academy has trained 60 young men and women.
