Dubai, UAE - Trend Micro (TSE: 4704), the leader in network antivirus and content security software, today announced that it has joined forces with Crossbeam Systems, the leader in network security solutions for the world's largest networks, to introduce Next Generation Content Gateway (NGCG) Web threat protection for large networks.

The Crossbeam and Trend Micro consolidated Web security solution provides enterprise threat protection by integrating a complementary combination of URL filtering, malware scanning, reputation services, and botnet protection. The solution offers customers unprecedented protection against web and internet-based threats through an enterprise-class security platform which can now be scaled with additional security services without impacting end user experience.

Existing customers can easily deploy this solution into their security infrastructure without incurring costly upgrades while new customers can consolidate appliances while providing automated detection and prevention of Web-based attacks, reducing management overhead and minimising operational costs.

Web sites are rapidly becoming the number one infection vector for malware and other attack vectors. Unlike past malware variants that arrived bearing a single payload, web browsing and internet based applications have turned out to be a key source of malware and malicious content frequently installed without the victims' knowledge.

Protecting against these new Web and Internet-based threats is a key challenge for large enterprises. In addition, security deployments can be a significant effort for enterprises, especially when it comes to installations that span a large number of clients.

"There is a real demand for easy-to-manage, integrated security on a high performance platform to protect enterprise networks from these web and internet-based attacks", says Anthony O'Mara, Vice President Sales and Operations, EMEA at Trend Micro. "By partnering with Crossbeam, we are able to address these security requirements and offer a truly flexible solution with Next Generation Content Gateway Web threat protection which can be scaled up as customers' businesses grow."

"By working closely with our customers, we identified the need for a Web security offering that provides the high performance and scale required to secure their networks," says David Woodcock, VP of Sales for Northern and Central Europe at Crossbeam Systems. "The next generation content gateway solution can be seamlessly and easily plugged into customers' networks, combining Trend Micro's best-of-breed Web threat protection with the flexibility and scalability that only the Crossbeam X-Series architecture can offer."
