Exactal of Brisbane, Australia, today joined their reseller Acette Technologies FZ LLC to launch CostX, the cost estimation and quantity surveying software, in the Middle East region.
The launch of CostX was formally inaugurated at Thuraya Hall in Dubai Internet City by Sunil Sivanand, Managing Director of Acette at a 'Seminiar on Computer-Aided Quantity Surveying', which was largely attended by representatives of leading property developers, quantity surveyor firms and contracting companies in the UAE.
Ben Hislop, Product Manager, from Exactal who ran the seminar said that 'CostX has gained wide acceptance in the quantity surveying profession on account of its demonstrable edge over other cost estimation software solutions. CostX's advantage primarily arose from its capability to meet the challenges faced by cost estimators, such as keeping up with pace of design changes, and CostX's ability to handle drawing revisions automatically'. Ben added that 'CostX facilitated the re-using of intelligent information from design documentation, and maintained the ability to keep and recall the wealth of information that an estimator builds up, over time, for use in future projects'.
Ben further demonstrated the power to CostX as a 'take-off' solution that allows Computer-Aided Design (CAD) drawings to imported from traditional CAD software such as AutoCAD, Microstation, Vectorworks and Autodesk ADT as well as leading new generation design technologies such as Autodesk Revit and the virtual building modeller ArchiCAD.
Sunil Sivanand 'Acette Technologies was committed to the product for a long-term and looked forward to work with professional QS firms and the professional QS community to localize the product over time and develop locally usable content such as rate libraries and cost breakdown structures comparable with markets where the industry standards were ahead of the region'.
Sunil added that 'CostX solution is brought to market as user-based licences from Acette Technologies. In future Acette will also be offering CostX training to customers and potentially to professional estimators and quantity surveyors and students who wish to acquire CostX user skills'.
