Rameshan Vaniyan wins UClub's 'Vote your favourite Asha song' promotion


Dubai: On April 22, all roads will lead to the Dubai International Convention Centre (Dubai World Trade Centre), the venue for the Dubai leg of Asha Bhosle’s ‘Up Close and Personal’ Tour 2004, which is being sponsored by Cellucom, a leading distributor of mobile communication devices and accessories in the UAE. UClub, the online mobile phone entertainment web portal developed by Cellucom also offered its members a chance to get ‘up close and personal’ with the star through its ‘Vote your favourite Asha song’ promotion. 
 
“Asha Bhosle is the biggest name in Hindi film music for the last four decades and we are immensely pleased to be associated with her live performance here in Dubai. It will be a memorable evening with music that will span the last 50 years of Hindi music. It is a show with a difference - a must see for music lovers,” said Arun Nagar, Managing Director, Cellucom.
 
Asha Bhosle will be the first Asian artiste to perform at the Convention Centre’s all-seated indoor arena. Bhosle is famous for her repertoire that ranges from the classical and the traditional to ultra trendy songs in 22 languages, many of which will be heard on the day.
 
Speaking ahead of her Dubai show, the Indian diva promised audiences, “a very special concert”.  She added that the song selection would be unique. “The selection of songs has been fine tuned after going through many requests from individuals, from the local show promoters and from local radio stations. This show is aimed at a select group of true music lovers,” she said. 
 
Ramesh Vaniyan, the lucky winner of the UClub promotion met the famous singer and received two tickets from the star to watch the show.  The promotion simply asked UClub members to send a text message with the name of their favourite Asha Bhosle song. Five tickets were up for grabs with one lucky winner presented the chance to meet the diva herself. In addition to the tickets being offered, other UClub prizes included dinner for two at Bamboo Lagoon at Marriot Hotel and vouchers to dine at Asha’s, and UClub prepaid cards.
 
Amit Kumar, son of legend Kishore Kumar, who teamed up with Asha Bhosle for the popular hit Roz Roz Aankhon Tale, is also to perform on the night along with the Asha Bhosle orchestra. Doors open at 7.30 pm with the show beginning at 9.30 pm. The concert is open to all, with tickets priced at Dh 1,250 (VVIP), Dh 440 (VIP) and Dh 195 (Regular). Each ticket will be accompanied by a 35 per cent discount voucher for Asha’s restaurant.
 
Over the years, Cellucom’s marketing strategy has evolved to include the sponsorship of sporting and musical events, such as the upcoming Asha Bhosle concert. During the recently concluded Dubai Shopping Festival, Cellucom sponsored Xtreme Riders, a show featuring internationally acclaimed BMX and FMX riders.
