Muscat | BankDhofar and TelyPay -an Omani FinTech start-up company recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to discuss the possibility of developing highly innovative e-payment solutions. The MoU was mutually signed by Dr. Tariq Taha, Chief Digital & Information Officer at BankDhofar, and Ahmed AlShibli CEO of TelyPay.
Commenting on the MoU, Dr. Tariq Taha, Chief Digital and Information Officer at BankDhofar said: “We are pleased to sign this partnership with TelyPay in line with our commitment to supporting young entrepreneurs and local companies offering cutting edge technology solutions for banks. This collaboration reflects our vision and continued efforts in providing innovative services and to support the government’s digitalization efforts.”
Ahmed Al Shibli as the CEO of TelyPay noted: “We are glad to sign the MoU with BankDhofar, working closely with an industry leader such as BankDhofar would offer us the chance to expand on and improve our services. TelyPay was built in order to offer a more diverse pool of payment options for the Omani market and in order to be more inclusive to segments of the society that would rather not share their bank information online or that are unbanked, to begin with. TelyPay is starting in Oman, with plans to expand to the rest of the GCC in the upcoming future.”
TelyPay is supported by the Oman Technology Fund (OTF). OTF was launched by the Oman Investment Fund (OIF) in October 2016, and has partnered with Hambro Perks, a London, UK-based Venture Capital fund and global accelerator network, to train and accelerate growth of selected technology start-ups in Oman.
