Baker Hughes announced that it has moved its Surface Pressure Control Projects business (SPC Projects) headquarters from Houston to Abu Dhabi, bringing its operations closer to some of the company’s strategic customers and oil producers globally. The move will ensure better alignment on strategy, decision-making and implementation of projects.

The announcement comes during the same week as the virtual ADIPEC 2020 event and builds on Baker Hughes’ 2019 opening of a wellheads facility in Abu Dhabi. By bringing the headquarters closer to one of its largest Pressure Control manufacturing sites in Saudi Arabia, the SPC Projects business will be better suited for future growth and expansion.

SPC Projects is a part of the Oilfield Equipment segment of Baker Hughes. The business provides surface and subsea wellheads, surface pressure control equipment, subsea well intervention solutions and related services and connectors with facilities are in the Middle East, Mexico, Singapore and China. The new SPC Projects headquarters in Abu Dhabi will deepen collaboration with regional leaders for technology and R&D in the oilfield equipment space, enhance local skills and bring more operational expertise to the UAE, contributing to the region’s manufacturing, engineering and sourcing capabilities.

The Middle East is a key market for Baker Hughes, and the relocation of our SPC Projects headquarters to Abu Dhabi reflects our continued commitment to the region and focus on supporting the in-country value (ICV) requirements of the markets we operate in,” said Ayman Khattab, VP of Gulf, North Africa and India and VP of SPC Projects for Oilfield Equipment at Baker Hughes. “Abu Dhabi is the oil and gas hub for the UAE, and this move enhances our ease of doing business because of its strategic location and connectivity to other major markets in the region. This move will help us serve our customers better as we expect to achieve reduction in shipping time, delivery schedules and supply chain logistics.”
