Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Today, values-based production company AYA Animations, launched the first season of its highly-anticipated series ‘Aya and Yusuf’ aimed at kids aged 2-8 years old. Now streaming in English on the AYA Animations website, the Quran-inspired show features two adorable twins as they adventure and explore the world around them.
While the 2-D short animation series is rooted in Qur’anic teachings, the values woven into each story are shared by all faiths. These universal values ensure AYA Animations is inclusive and appropriate for children of all backgrounds. This season, children will watch Aya and Yusuf learn about caring for the environment, using kind words, and patience and perseverance. The series seamlessly integrates moral education into the storyline as the twins play together, spend quality family time and interact with animals in their garden.
Sara Sawaf, the Saudi-based mom-preneur who is Founder and Executive producer of AYA Animations commented on the launch saying, “I struggled to find high-quality content with moral lessons for my kids to watch and learn from, and I knew I was not the only parent with this concern. There was a clear gap in the market and so I built a team to develop a series that would engage and excite kids. After a few years of resilience and dedication, I am proud to share the first ‘Aya and Yusuf’ series with the world.”
“Our hope is that parents will find the series stimulating, light-hearted and fun for kids to watch. Underpinning all of this are the universal values we weaved within the storylines to make the content both enriching and enjoyable,” she continued.
Sara established the values-based edutainment production company in 2015. Since then, the company has been recognized for its values-inspired mission by a number of organisations including, the MIT Enterprise Forum Saudi Start-up Competition, where AYA Animations was a finalist. Today, Sara’s vision of the colourful series has been brought to life by a global team of experts including Alfonso Rodriguez, Director of award-winning Spanish preschool animation POCOYO, Lead Writer Nizar Wattad who has previously written scripts for Netflix and Walt-Disney Pictures as well as decorated music composer Sami Matar. The voiceover cast also includes notable names such as Oscar-nominated Producer Waleed Zuaiter, hip-hop artist and poet Omar Offendum and actor Nora Hawari.
“The launch of our series ‘Aya and Yusuf’ is only the beginning for us,” Sara added. “We are only just getting started and look forward to introducing our Arabic ‘Aya and Yusuf’ series along with our e-learning experiences, merchandise, books and edutainment material for kids in the near future.”
