Occupying a prime position along a 1.2 kilometre stretch of Abu Dhabi's protected Eastern Mangroves District, the new luxury five-star hotel will be home to the UAE's largest Hammam and VIP suite, The Royal Mangroves Residence.
Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa is situated just 15 minutes from Abu Dhabi International Airport and 10 minutes from downtown Abu Dhabi, making it the ideal destination for business and leisure travellers as well as residents of Abu Dhabi. A project wholly-owned by Tourism Development & Investment Company (TDIC), Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa will be Anantara's third property to open in the UAE. Its current portfolio includes the award-winning Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort by Anantara, located in the legendary Liwa Desert in the Empty Quarter and Desert Islands Resort & Spa by Anantara on Sir Bani Yas Island.
The new property forms part of an integrated hotel, marina, retail and residential destination, providing a luxury haven away from the bustle of city life in central Abu Dhabi. The hotel consists of 222 hotel rooms and suites across five levels, three themed food and beverage outlets; including an all day dining restaurant and a Thai speciality restaurant along with a rooftop lounge, with a fully glazed north facing facade, providing an exquisite view of the lush mangroves below. Further facilities include a luxury spa featuring a traditional Arabic Hammam, gym and fitness facility, terrace and infinity pool, and an impressive ballroom, with state-of-the-art conference facilities.
General Manager of Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa, Abu Dhabi by Anantara and Director of Operations for Anantara in the Middle East, Michel Koopman comments, "With a convenient location, state-of-the-art business and meetings facilities and world-class dining and leisure offerings, the Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara will provide an outstanding experience for the growing number of corporate travellers visiting Abu Dhabi. In keeping with Anantara's brand ethos of incorporating indigenous culture into each property, Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa is a true Abu Dhabi hotel with Emirati traditions and influences reflected throughout the property. In addition to the corporate market, this will be an ideal destination for leisure travellers and Abu Dhabi residents.''
Closely linked to the heritage of the UAE, the Eastern Mangroves district forms a treasured part of Emirati history and was an area of great importance to the late President of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The development of the hotel has been carefully designed to protect and enhance the unique Mangroves setting and owner TDIC has used modern marine technology, specifically designed to help preserve the future of this precious environment.
The modern architecture of Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara blends unique elements of Arabic design such as archeways, mushrabiyas, intricate mosaics and solid timber. Largely subtle and elegant in design, touches of 18-carat gold are also used throughout the property, adding to the luxurious feel.
The roots of the mangroves are echoed in the interior design of the hotel embellishing the luxurious thick-pile carpets and contemporary headboards in the bedrooms. Other key design features include stunning central thoroughfares; an abundance of light throughout the hotel, and in true Arab-tradition, the rooms and suites were designed with the utmost importance placed on privacy.
Eastern Mangroves Hotel & Spa by Anantara offers a variety of accommodation options where generosity of space is evident throughout; from the entry level 'Deluxe Balcony' rooms to the 'Royal Mangroves Residence', the UAE's largest suite which offers up to seven en-suite bedrooms depending on the requirements of the guest. Ideal for families, interconnecting rooms are available on every floor, with connecting doors from the corridors providing additional privacy.
The most opulent accommodation at the hotel can be found in the 'Royal Mangroves Residence' which is ideal for dignitaries and VIP's seeking the ultimate in luxury and exclusivity. Offering a lavish but residential feel, the size of the Royal Mangroves Residence can be adapted depending on guest requirements with options for three to seven en-suite bedrooms and balconies featured throughout. The 52-seat speciality restaurant will feature an open kitchen, chef's table and fresh food will be a key feature of the restaurant's seasonal menus
The 'Impressions' rooftop lounge boasts stunning views of the Eastern Mangroves district and the Abu Dhabi City landscape. Those looking for Abu Dhabi's sleekest nightlife destination will undoubtedly be enamoured by this stylish lounge. The venue will feature an LED roofline and lounge front that changes colour to suit the mood of the evening; aqua, blue, teal and purple will be programmed to fade and morph to whichever type of music is playing.
