Dubai, May 8th 2012 - Almarai, the world's largest vertically integrated dairy company, announced that they have initiated a program for the donation of milk to 10,000 impoverished families living in the UAE. The announcement was made at a press conference today in Almarai's offices in Dubai and was attended by representatives of the UAE Red Crescent Society (UAERC). The donation will be conducted through the UAERC to ensure that the households that are most in need receive the contributions.
Commenting on the initiative, Mr. Talal Alotaibi, the Public Relations Manager at Almarai Company, stated: "As a company that is dedicated to fulfilling consumers' daily needs of healthy and nutritious food and beverage products, we are honored to be in the UAE today to activate this initiative and reaffirm our commitment to making a positive impact on people's lives in the markets that we serve. Our partnership with the UAERC is founded on mutual trust and the common aim of enabling communities to fulfill their potential. We look forward to building on this initiative under the guidance and with the assistance of the Red Crescent Society in the UAE."

The UAE Red Crescent Authority has been founded in 1983 in order to provide various forms of humanitarian relief to different groups including orphans, widows, and impoverished families through organizing programs of awareness, first aid and protection and control of epidemics and attention to social issues and to provide various humanitarian aid to the needy and victims of accidents and disasters. In 2001, the UAE Red Crescent was chosen as the second best humanitarian authority at the level of the continent of Asia.
