RIYADH The Saudi Stock Exchange (Tadawul) hosted the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality, to celebrate International Womens Day 2019. Tadawul Chairperson Ms. Sarah Al Suhaimi, and Tadawul CEO Eng. Khalid Al Hussan attended the event. In addition, Tadawul employees as well as prominent women leaders in the financial, government, and private sector participated in the celebration.
Tadawul joined nearly 80 global exchanges marking the occasion in partnership with the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative, aiming to promote empowering women in the Capital Markets sector and as part of celebrating the International Womens Day.
The event also featured success stories. In addition, Tadawuls CEO signed the Womens Empowerment Principles, as the first Saudi company, aimed at strengthening the role of women in the capital markets sector as well as public-listed companies.
The initiative comes as part of Tadawuls CSR & Sustainability efforts, and follows Tadawuls joining as a Partner Exchange in UNs Sustainable Stock Exchanges (SSE) Initiative in December 2018, aimed at promoting the integration of sustainability within Saudi capital markets.
The SSE Initiative serves as a platform for exploring how exchanges, together with investors, regulators and issuers can enhance transparency and performance on environmental, social and corporate governance issues and stimulate sustainable investment. SG
