After heavy rain lashed the UAE during the week, the national Met department has predicted light rainfall in some areas with a chance of chance of fog formation and poor horizontal visibility.

On Monday morning, National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) warned about fog formation and poor visibility over internal and coastal areas.

"The NCM calls for drivers to take all precautions and follow the traffic regulations regarding the chance of fog formation and poor horizontal visibility to its lowest at times over some internal and central areas, until 9am on Monday," the Met said in a statement.

Motorists have also been urged to monitor weather forecasts.

Sharing today's weather report, the NCM said: "The weather forecast for today is fair to partly cloudy with a chance of rainfall in some areas."

The sea will be slight to moderate in the Arabian Gulf and in the Gulf of Oman.

On Sunday, some areas in Dubai, Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah were blanketed in sheets of white as it hailed for several minutes. As forecast by the NCM, the UAE's highest peak, Jebel Jais, also received some snow and hail.
