Ministry of Education Undersecretary Dr. Ali Al-Yaqoub said Wednesday that the ministry plans on compensating educational wastage by opening night schools in November, in coordination with Ministry of Health. Al-Yaqoub announced, on sideline of a forum discussing educational wastage, organized by Hawally educational area, that the compensation plan hinges on medical authorities.

Al-Yaqoub mentioned that 34 diagnostic and analytical tests were run to find solutions and put forth policies to improve students’ performance. He clarified that students being absent from schools for about a year and half caused disparate educational levels, therefore; plans will put into considerations each student’s case in an effort to compensate what they have missed in skills. He also indicated that by the end of each month, plans are reviewed and the ministry will be working with health authorities to look into all measures, including class-time and attendance mechanism. He further affirmed that the ministry of education is committed in coordinating with health authorities especially with the possibility of opening night schools (KUNA).
