KUWAIT CITY: The Central Agency for Public Tenders (CAPT) has approved the Health Ministry’s request to sign a contract with Moderna to procure one million doses of its anti-corona vaccine, reports Al- Qabas daily quoting sources from the ministry.

Sources said the new vaccine from Moderna will be available upon approval of the State Audit Bureau (SAB), indicating the contract value is KD12 million or $40 million.

Sources affirmed more details, including the date of arrival of the first shipment of the vaccine, will be announced after obtaining approval from SAB.

Sources added the ministry is closely following up the latest developments about vaccines approved by international health organizations with the aim of using them in the country after registration and licensing locally to ensure optimal handling of the requirements of the next phase and to achieve the target vaccination of 70 percent of the country’s population.
