It’s finally official. A week after Gulf News tabloid! reported about Justin Bieber’s potential concert in Dubai, an organiser has confirmed the pop star will bring his Purpose World Tour to Autism Rocks Arena on May 6.
The 22-year-old has performed in the city before. He sold out two concerts at the Sevens Stadium in 2013.
Organisers say the event will be his only regional performance.
With a Number 1 album in over 100 countries, back-to-back worldwide smash hit singles, and a world tour that has sold out dates across the US, Canada and Europe, Bieber is without a doubt one of the most successful pop stars in the world.
Last week, Bieber’s website listed a Dubai show for May 6, much to the excitement of Beliebers in the UAE. But as quickly as the excitement spread, so did the disappointment when the date was removed on December 6.
Local organiser 117Live had been teasing about a ‘huge act’ that they were going to announce, dropping letters from Bieber’s name. It looked like wires were crossed somewhere along the line.
“We are pushing out the boat, going full, maximum venue capacity and preparing for the loudest audience screams when the Purpose World Tour visits us in May 2017,” says Thomas Ovesen, 117Live CEO. “But before then I cannot wait to reunite with the tens of thousands of regional Bieber fans and of course to also hear from the many new Beliebers when we kick off the ticket sales.”
Last week, Bieber was nominated for four awards at the 2017 Grammys — his first time — for song of the year and pop solo performance of the year with Love Yourself, and pop vocal album of the year and album of the year with Purpose.
Ticket prices for the Dubai concert have not been revealed but fans can pre-register on 117live.com.
