AMMAN — The Ministry of Health and the Private Hospitals Association on Tuesday agreed to allocate 1,000 basic hospital beds and 150 ICU beds dedicated to treating COVID-19 patients who have been transferred from public hospitals on the government’s expense, the Jordan News Agency, Petra, reported.

Minister of Health Nathir Obeidat noted that the official agreement will be signed in the coming two days, adding that both parties agreed on reduced prices which would not impose an additional financial burden on the ministry.

Private hospitals will also provide staff members, equipment and medications at reduced costs to aid the ministry’s health insurance department, said Fawzi Al Hammouri, chairman of the Private Hospitals Association.

Heading the meeting on Tuesday, Prime Minister Bisher Al Khasawneh also emphasised that the decision is based on the cooperative relation between public and private sectors in the Kingdom.
