DUBAI, 18th June, 2017 (WAM) -- Tasheel Customer Service Centres in Ajman have announced the commencement of domestic worker services on Sunday, June 18th, 2017. Domestic workers services include the issuance of new entry permits, issue work permits, new residency, and work permit renewal services.

The employment of domestic workers had so far been regulated by the Ministry of Interior, which oversaw their employment and handled all concerns related to their jobs. Under a new law, all domestic workers will from now be regulated by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, like the rest of the expat workforce in the UAE.

Ayesha Belharfia, Assistant Under-Secretary of Domestic Worker Affairs, affirmed the centres' readiness to receive customers in Ajman, "Three centres will offer domestic worker services through 10 dedicated counters to ensure meeting the UAE Government Excellence Programme standards.""In coordination with the Ministry of the Interior, Tasheel Customer Service Centres will oversee a complete transfer of domestic workers' files to the ministry and provide services in Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ras al-Khaimah and Fujairah," she added.

"We process requests electronically then a notification letter shall be sent via SMS or email which the customer has noted, the message will inform the applicant of the current request status."According to the ministry, domestic workers are those employed by households and includes housemaids, cooks, security guards, drivers, gardeners, and shepherds.
