If you receive a message on your WhatsApp saying that you can win a US$500 Ikea gift voucher as the company is marking its 75th anniversary? If you did, don't believe in it.

It is a fake message that is doing the rounds on social media.

Issuing a stern warning, Ikea has asked residents not to get trapped in the scam and cautioned them against sharing any personal information to get the bogus vouchers.

On its Facebook account, it said:

Ikea is aware of a fraudulent message being circulated through WhatsApp asking for personal information in promise of a free gift. We would like to inform you that this is a false promotion that has nothing to do with Ikea. Please do not participate or share any personal information with these phishing scams.
