The Ministry of Justice has implemented a digital system for powers of attorney (PoAs) that enables clients to quickly register and obtain a PoA, allows linking PoAs with relevant entities, and prevents duplication.
The system’s most important features include ease of registration, rapid access to PoAs, the ability to link registered PoAs with relevant entities, and digital listing of all issued PoAs.
The client registers a new PoA via the MoJ portal (www.moj.gov.sa) by filling in the data for the principal, agent and PoA information, and printing out the application number; the process is then completed at any notarial office in the Kingdom.
The service also displays all PoA details, such as the principal, the agent, and whether the PoA has been terminated.
The system also enables inquiries about the PoAs issued by or for the client, PoA terminations, and any PoA duplications, issuing more than one PoA for the same purpose.
The ministry has recently launched an e-service enabling digital termination of PoAs without the client having to visit a notarial office, the latest in a series of e-services aiming at helping clients and expediting procedures.
The service allows PoA parties to digitally terminate the PoA after verification of their national ID numbers through SMSs sent to their Absher-registered phone numbers.
The ministry has also enabled digital verification of PoA validity through its portal to protect the clients’ rights and to expedite their work. This service can be utilized through the “Inquiry about my PoAs” page on the ministry's portal (www.moj.gov.sa), or through calling the number 920025888. In addition, the service will soon be available on the ministry’s mobile apps.
