Ministry of Finance and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have signed a JPY 44 million ($336 million) official development assistance (ODA) agreement to support Egypt's Universal Health Insurance System, Finance Ministry announced in a statement on March 28th.

Finance Minister Mohamed Maait said that the agreement will contribute to strengthening efforts to expand the coverage of health insurance in several governorates nationwide.

The loan will also contribute to the achievement of Egypt’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The JICA’s representatives expressed keenness to provide all support for Egypt’s Universal Health Insurance System.
