ABU DHABI -- Takreer and Japanese Cooperation Centre For Petroleum ((JCCP) yesterday signed an agreement to carry out Front End Engineering Design (FEED) Phase and subsequent Engineering Procurement Contract (EPC)-Phase of a Flare Gas Recovery unit at its Ruwais Refinery which will check emission of deadly Carbon Dioxide Gas (Co2) into air making the environment cleaner. The project is executed jointly by Abu Dhabi National Oil Refining Company (Takreer) and Japan Cooperation Centre for Petroleum (JCCP).

Takreer, JCCP and Cosmo Oil also selected Toyo Engineering Corporation (TEC) of Japan to manage and execute the overall project.

The completion of FEED phase of the project is expected by end 2005 whereas the EPC phase by early 2008. Flare Gas Recovery unit is a smart solution to reduce combustion emissions such as Nox, CO and Co2 and turns an environmental protection programme into positive cash flow. Reduce, Recover and Reuse is the concept of Flare Gas Recovery Unit and refineries worldwide are installing the same for environment protection.
