With the stoppage of spare part imports, Iran Tractor Manufacturing Company (ITMC) achieved self-sufficiency in the current Iranian year (started March 21), said the managing director of the company.
Abolfath Ebrahimi also said on Monday that high quality spare parts of the company have entered both foreign and domestic markets.
He listed increasing production, creating variety in products, improving the quality of spare parts and machineries, cutting reliance on the West and amending production structure as the plan and strategies adopted by the complex to achieve self-sufficiency and boost exports.
"About 27 percent of the products are exported directly form the complex," he said.
"Despite the West's unilateral sanctions, improving the quality of products has helped the complex increase exports."
Ebrahimi said the complex is now manufacturing 16 types of products.
"The growth in exports to western countries is indicative of the improvement in the quality of products," he said.
Earlier, Ebrahimi listed Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, Iraq, Tajikistan, Sri Lanka, Sudan and neighboring countries, as well as African and Central Asian states, as the company's main customers.
Iran is a major tractor-manufacturer and exporter. ITMC in the northwestern city of Tabriz has exported many of its products to many countries and launched assembly lines in various parts of the world, including South America.
Bolivia has invited ITMC to launch a tractor-manufacturing line in the country.
ITMC has also built a tractor-manufacturing company in Venezuela called Veniran.
