TEHRAN - Iran has exported over $20 billion worth of technical and engineering services over 2001-2011, the head of the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) stated.
The IRNA News Agency quoted Hamid Safdel as saying that
The exports were mainly related to power, industry, road, and petrochemical sectors.
The power sector accounted for some $5.6 billion of the total exports, he said, adding that Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, Oman, Sudan and Iraq were the major importers of Iranian technical and engineering services.
He added that technical and engineering exports amounted to some $4.1 billion in the past calendar year, which ended on March 19, showing 24.7 percent rise compared to its preceding year.
Another TPOI official said in December 2011 that a couple of technical and engineering projects have been signed off to be rolled out in the fields of energy, industry and housing in Ghana, Sudan, Oman, Pakistan, Azerbaijan and Tajikistan.
Sohrab Salimi addedthat more than 125 industrial and mining projects, worth some $3.5 billion, are in the hands of Iranian contractors around the world.
