ABU DHABI, 5 dec, 05 (WAM) - The Information Affairs Officeof Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister,has published a study entitled "The Islamic Solidarity", on theoccasion of the participation of H.H. President Sheikh Khalifabin Zayed Al-Nahyan in the Islamic Summit conference in Mecca.
The book deals with the pillars of the Islamic solidarity andthe contribution of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa to enhancing the Islamiccommon action and to pushing forward the dialogue among the Islamiccountries, according to a statement from the office.
In its introduction, the book mentions that the Islamic worldfaces external challenges, and suffers from poverty and backwardness,which can be overcome only through hard work and devotion tothe Islamic issues.
It underlines the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed Bin SultanAl-Nahyan in boosting the Islamic solidarity. But it focuseson Sheikh Khalifa's efforts in consolidating solidarityamong the Islamic countries through placing Arab and Islamicissueson the top of the UAE policy priorities.
There is no doubt that strengthening relations among the Islamiccountries, in accordance with what the Islamic religion, historyand common interests dictate, is the main instrument for openingnew horizons of cooperation and solidarity, and for achievingprogress in the economic, social and cultural fields, the booksays.
The study also stresses His Highness' repeated calls for theIslamic countries to put behind their differences and open newera of relations based on frankness and compromise, so that theycan face the up-coming challenges and take their right positionin the new world order.
It highlights the vision of the President Sheikh Khalifa onthe Arab and Islamic issues which he considersas intertwined and connected with one another. The study quotesHis Highness as saying "Realizing solidarity and reconciliationis the most effective way for confronting the current chaleengesand developments engulfing the Arab and Islamic world".
The book exhibits the landmarks in the development of the Organizationof the Islamic Conference since its inception in 1969 after theal-Aqsa Mosque fire which occurred that year. It explains thegoals and the principles for which the organization was established.
At the top of these goals and principles, the book says, isthe strengthening of solidarity among member states. It alsosheds light on the administrative structure of the institution,and its various offices and branches as well as the specializedagencies affiliated to it.The book tackles all the summit conferences held by the organization,the recommendations and final statements resulting from them,and the impacts of these recommendations and decisions on thedaily reality and new developments facing the organization, whichcause it to seek to strengthen its cooperation with other internationalorganizations with which it shares common goals and interests.
The book states that these challenges prompt the Organizationof the Islamic Conference to try to find more effective toolsand mechanisms for solving the sensitive problems that face theIslamic countries and the rest of the world.
