Amman - Prime Minister and Defense Minister Abdullah Ensour discussed with Greek Defense Minister Dimitris Avramopoulos ways to boost cooperation between the two countries.

Jordan, Ensour said, was keen to enhance mutual ties with Greece in various domains, adding that the European nation recognizes the challenges that face the Middle East and the need to find a just solution to the Palestinian cause.

Most of the Middle East's problems, including terrorism, are linked to the failure to find a resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the prime minister told the Greek official, who is visiting the Kingdom to participate in the Special Operations Forces Exhibition and Conference (SOFEX 2014).
The prime minister also spoke about the ramifications of the Syrian crisis for Jordan, adding that no sooner had Jordan started to recover from the global financial downturn that hundreds of thousands of Syrians crossed into the Kingdom to flee from the violence in their own country.

Ensour said that Jordan and Greek can increase mutual cooperation in trade, cultural and tourism domains, thanks to the potential the countries have.

The Greek Defense Minister said that his country was keen to enhance cooperation with Jordan and expressed the hope that his visit will contribute to opening new scopes for joint cooperation and for forging a real partnership. He noted that many Jordanians have studied at Greek universities and institutes, adding that more cooperation in this area can be achieved.
