British Airways reported a 15 per cent increase in its World Traveller Plus passengers from the UAE between April 2004 and January 2005 against the same period the previous year.
British Airways is the only airline that offers a fourth cabin - World Traveller Plus - a unique service aimed at the cost conscious business traveller and discerning leisure passenger who want more space, privacy and at a price that is not sky high.
Commenting on the report, Deborah Frampton, British Airways Manager for the UAE, said, "World Traveller Plus is becoming a popular alternative with business and holiday travellers. Nearly 6,000 passengers flew World Traveller Plus from the UAE between April 2004 and January 2005, an increase of 15 per cent on previous figures."
"In January alone this year we had 684 passengers that flew World Traveller Plus," Frampton said.
For families there is excellent in-flight entertainment with Disney and Cartoon Network and the latest blockbuster movies. British Airways also has SkyflyerBravo and SkyflyerAlpha, the two galactic heroes developed for kids' in-flight amusement. Skyflyer packs are given to children between the ages of 3 and 6. For 6 to 12 year olds there are backpacks with toys and electronic games.
"World Traveller Plus is an excellent choice for British Airways passengers with 16 flights from Dubai and daily flights from Abu Dhabi to London Heathrow. This gives passengers a convenient and comfortable way of travelling long haul and to arrive in better shape to do business or start their holidays," added Frampton.
British Airways operates 23 flights per week from the UAE.
