MUSCAT -- The head of Omantel's Consumer Business Unit, Rao Chagarlamudi, has outlined his commitment to ensuring that the more than 2.3 million customers of Omantel and Oman Mobile will receive a significantly enhanced customer experience in the future. Speaking at a media briefing, Chagarlamudi said that since Omantel launched its new enhanced brand and "Together" tagline the company has announced a number of new initiatives to benefit its customers across the Sultanate.
He outlined the massive range of high quality services and products that Omantel, as the leading telecommunications company in Oman, was providing for its fixed, mobile and Internet customers. "We have already launched a number of exciting customer offers this year including changes to our Hayyak pre-paid service, the introduction of the first "pay per call" scheme with Mada Liberty in the region and a new 500MB package for mobile broadband Internet," explained Chagarlamudi.
"These are just the first in a wide range of new and exciting offers that we are planning for our consumers over the coming year as part of Omantel's commitment to offering an enhanced customer experience in everything we do. "The introduction of a new integrated website -- www.omantel.om -- that gives customers one point of contact to view bills, pay bills, subscribe to services, top-up their Hayyak accounts, look up their payment history and download ringtones and other popular services," he added.
The company's pre-paid Hayyak service is among the most popular in Oman and since February customers have enjoyed lower rates of 39 baisa a minute and a new off-peak period that now runs from 8 pm in the evening to 6am the following day. The new rate has made Oman's most popular pre-paid service competitive during this time of day and represents a 13.3 per cent cut in the previous off-peak rates. Chagarlamudi also explained that the launch of the new unlimited Mada Liberty and Mada Infinity post paid products had exceeded expectations since their introduction into the market just a week ago.
Mada Liberty, that allows customers to make a call to other Omantel or Oman Mobile numbers for as long as they like for just 59 baisa, is the first of its kind to be launched in the Gulf region. It is already proving very popular with customers who are subscribing to it and already enjoying the benefits of being able to have unlimited call time. The plan costs just RO 4 per month and there is now an additional benefit for Mada subscribers with a reduction in the SIM Card price from RO 7 to RO 2 and a removal of the RO 3 connection fee that used to apply to Mada products.
The Mada Infinity price plan enables subscribers to enjoy unlimited telephone calls, SMS, MMS, and video calls to other Omantel and Oman Mobile numbers; and up to 3GB of 3.5G mobile broadband for the fixed price of RO 39 per month. As Oman becomes increasingly networked and linked to the world via the Internet, the company's range of mobile broadband services are proving increasingly popular.
Products range from pre-paid Hayyak 1 RO for one day or 3 RO for three day Internet access services to the excellent value offered by its post paid services such as 19 RO a month for up to 3GB of downloads. In the past two weeks Omantel has introduced its 500 MB package for mobile broadband Internet as part of its Mada post paid subscriber packages. Priced at just RO 12 a month, this service is specially designed for lighter Internet users and has been introduced to meet specific consumer demand and meet a gap in the mobile broadband market.
"The wide range of new and innovative products we offer are helping us to steadily increase our customer base across the Sultanate and ensure that we maintain our leadership position in the market and continue to deliver excellent value and quality to our 2.3 million fixed and mobile customer base across the country," added Chagarlamudi.
