LAHORE: Anwar Asia Investment Company, a subsidiary of an Omani investment firm, has signed an agreement to partially fund the construction of a rail project of state-owned Pakistan Railways, Oman News Agency (ONA) revealed.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed to this effect against the backdrop of the visit by an Omani business delegation led by the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) to Pakistan.

On Friday, Eng Redha bin Juma al Saleh, Chairman of the board of directors of OCCI, held talks with Chaudhry Mohammed Sarwar, Governor of Punjab province in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. A number of officials of Lahore also attended the discussions, which explored prospects for trade and investment cooperation between the two countries in tourism, agriculture, education, health and manpower.

Also in Lahore, bilateral meetings were held between businessmen of the two countries at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to promote trade and investment cooperation, increase trade between the Sultanate of Oman and Pakistan and create business partnerships between private sector institutions and companies in the two countries.
