MUSCAT -- Oman LNG and Oman Charitable Organisation signed an agreement yesterday, whereby Oman LNG will contribute RO250,000 for the maintenance of worn down houses of low-income families.

In accordance with the agreement, Oman LNG will fund the rehabilitation of more than 84 houses listed by the organisation.

The agreement was signed by Mohammed bin Ali bin Nasir Al Alawi, minister of legal affairs and chairman of Oman Charitable Organisation (OCO), and Dr Brain Buckley, GM and chief executive of Oman LNG.

Oman LNG is a vital contributor to various social development and social investment programmes around the Sultanate. In coordination with OCO, the company has funded the construction of 122 houses since 2002 and maintained over 250 houses. Oman LNG has also signed several similar agreements for the construction of houses with the Ministry of Housing over the past few years.

The beneficiaries of this agreement will be families with low income from different regions of Oman, under the supervision and management of OCO, a well recognised charitable organisation in Oman.

Dr Brian Buckley commented that Oman LNG's social investment programme has made significant contributions towards socio-economic projects in addition to other projects for the community such as housing, water supply, roads, health and medical care, education at primary, secondary and tertiary levels, employment skills and enterprise ,cultural awareness and environmental protection.

"Oman LNG represents another significant step forward in realising the wealth potential of Oman's natural gas, thus making a major contribution towards supporting the government's continuing investment in infrastructure, utilities, health and education," Dr Buckley added.
