Muscat: Oman DryDock Company (ODC) reached another milestone when it received the largest two carriers since starting the soft operation last April.
The earlier gas carrier received by the company last year, Muscat LNG owned by Oman Shipping Company, was smaller in size compared to the carriers received by the dock during this period, said a company release. The achievement of ODC is unique in that none of the docks in the region has made such achievement after this short period from starting soft operation.
Sheikh Khalil bin Ahmed al Salmi said ODC received the German Crude Carrier Alpha Glory that has a capacity of 309,636 tonnes. The carrier, which is 333x58x31.2, will receive the required maintenance and repair service at the dock. The service includes the replacement of a large quantity of steel in addition to cleaning the tanks.
"The company also received Echigo Maru gas carrier, owned by NYK LNG Management of Japan," he added. So far, the company completed the maintenance of 77 domestic and international carriers for companies in Japan, the USA, India, Iran and others.
