The Algerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Said Barkat, arrived yesterday at noon in Agadir on a three-day visit at the invitation of the Moroccan Minister of Agriculture, Mohand Laenser, reported MAP.   Said Barkat, Algerian Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Ph: Archives.

Barkat said in a statement to the Moroccan press that "many factors push towards strengthening the bilateral relations between Morocco and Algeria in the agriculture sphere."

He urged the two countries to multiply the opportunities of exchange between them to develop the agriculture sector in Morocco and Algeria.

"The phenomenon of drought from which the Maghreb countries suffer leads the two countries to think seriously about the solutions necessary for meeting the current and future challenges," Barkat said.

In turn, Mohand Laenser said that cooperation between the Maghreb member states in the agriculture sector had existed for many years, namely between Morocco and Algeria.

"After the state visit of HM King Mohammed VI to Algeria on the occasion of the Arab Summit, Algiers expressed its desire to strengthen relations with Morocco in all fields," said Laenser, especially as the two countries face problems of exportation, development and climatic upheavals.

The Algerian Minister and his delegation paid field visits to Souss to see the level of development that Moroccan agriculture has achieved.
