DOHA: Exit permits for employees as well as families can now be issued through mobile phones, with the Ministry of Interior launching its Metrash 2 service.
The service that is available for citizens and expatriates holding a smart ID card, also allows to pay the fines for traffic violations using mobile phones.
Metrash 2 services include issuance of exit permits for those on personal sponsorship and for people working in companies, registration of the traffic violations and payment of fines and displaying details of various official documents for individuals, the Ministry said yesterday. More services will be added at a later phase.
To avail of the mobile phone service, the user must be holding a smart ID card and the phone must be registered in his/her name.
The new services can be availed of through the self services kiosks in different locations. Information about the locations is available at the Ministry website : www.moi.gov.qa. The Ministry has given detailed guidelines on how to use the service.
One needs to use the smart ID card to enter into the self services kiosk system.
To download the Metrash 2 application for mobile phones, the following URL must be entered into the mobile phone's browser-http://mds.moi.gov.qa/rest/ota/download/Metrash2/GETPAGE/0
Then press on download. Once the download is completed the application icon will appear on the screen.
To activate the Metrash 2 service, press on the application icon. A welcome screen will appear on the handset and the user can choose the application language Arabic/English.
On the first-time use of the application, a service activation screen will appear. Then enter the required details.
Once the application activates successfully, a screen to enter into the application will appear asking the password. Now, the main list of services will appear.
