KOCHI -- Lulu International Shopping Mall Group has announced the launch of the biggest shopping mall in India. To be located at Edappally the meeting point of three major highways of Kerala namely NH-17, NH 47 and the Kochi bypass, the project will be spread across more than 17 acres of land with a built up area of two million sq ft. The total project is estimated to cost Rs 1200 crores.

Announcing the details during a press conference Yusuffali MA, Managing Director of the Shopping Mall and the Managing Director of Emke Group, said: "This is our dream project and our plan is not to build just a shopping mall but a landmark destination for both residents and tourist alike. The facilities, brands, services, architecture, and amenities will be comparable to the best in the world.

"Our more than four decades of experience in the same business is sure to stand us in good stead in this project. The unique architectural features include majestic central atrium with translucent roofs, fountains, vertical circulation from the basement upwards with revelatory and huge elevators, easy access and exit, spacious indoor walkways and a vast parking space for more than 3000 vehicles".

This iconic project is being built as per the best international specifications by world renowned consultants W S Atkins of UK and will house more than 300 national and international brands of fashion, jewellery, electronics, lifestyle, home furnishing, furniture and accessories, book shops, footwear etc, 7 theatre multiplex, family amusement centre with bowling alley, 6 fine dining restaurants, 50,000 sq ft food court with 18 outlets and coffee shops apart from other usual facilities.

The project also consists of a 300 room five star hotel and a commercial tower exclusively for the Airlines and Aviation sector. An agreement has already been signed with the world renowned Marriot Hotels for the management of the five star hotel. "This is the first of its kind specialty commercial space in the region and is sure to complement the tremendous growth taking place in this sector" Yusuffali said.
