TUNIS, Dec 28 (KUNA) -- The Kuwaiti institute for musical arts Thursday participated in the 28th International Oases Festival held in Tozeur city south of the capital here.

Throngs attending the festival were regaled with a variety of traditional music from all continents and other cultural activities. The Oases festival was attended by local officials and members of Arab as well as foreign diplomatic missions in the country.

The festival's manager Ahmad Al-Zabi underlined the importance of the Kuwaiti participation in the festivities which came to boost inter-Arab cultural relations.

He praised the performance of a Kuwaiti orchestra taking part in the festival and said that it reflected true Kuwaiti musical and folk art traditions.

This orchestra participated recently in the International Sahara festival which was held in Douz city south of the country.

The festival which began Wednesday was inaugurated by Tunisian Minister of Culture and Protection of National Heritage Mohammad Al-Aziz Bin Ashour and also saw the attendance of the Kuwaiti ambassador to the country Asaad Al-Bahar.

The international event, which stretches over three days, began with paying tribute to the life and works of the great Tunisian intellectual Ibn Khaldoun.

The event would also display products by Tunisian craftswomen in the area and pay tribute to the work of the renowned Tunisian artist and calligrapher Nja Mahdaou.
