Italian military plane crashes on Nakheel Deira Island in Dubai, crew survive

Dubai, Nov 18th, 2011 (WAM)--Italian military plane M-346 aircraft crashed today afternoon at Nakheel Deira Island, while traveling from Dubai to Saudi Arabia after appearing at Dubai International Airshow 2011.

The crew ejected successfully from the plane and no serious injuries were reported.

According to an official source at the General Headquarters of Dubai Police, the plane took off from Dubai International Airport at 12:30pm bound for Saudi Arabia, but Captain Giovanni Bingley shortly lost contact suddenly with the control tower at the airport. Later a contact was received by 999 that the plane landed on Nakheel Deira Island and its crew ejected successfully, but the co-pilot sustained a leg fracture.

The source added that the rescue teams and ambulances of the Dubai Police rushed to the scene of accident, where they rushed the crew to hospital.
