DUBAI, June 5th, 2013 -- Kevin Mitnick, world-renowned IT security specialist, stressed the importance of the Gulf Security Conference, concluding today at the Dubai World Trade Center. He explained that these global forums play an important role in the exchange of information, and encouraging discussion of the latest developments in this vital sector for governments and IT specialists and experts.

During his lecture, Mitnick highlighted potential "user points" utilised by aggressors in a cyber-attack through which one could access and modify system properties.

Mitnick also highlighted the scarcity in the market of comprehensive security software packages that can deflect or limit the effects of collectively engineered attacks. The market also lacks the availability of an application that can be downloaded to guarantee the limitation of implications coming from the end-user's ignorance of certain online security measures.

Mitnick called for companies to develop solutions that place the human element at its core, such as organising fake cyber-attacks on their own websites to evaluate the reaction and behavior of their employees, as well as to teach them the best courses of action in such situations.
